Kids and Toddlers’ Summer Must-Haves

Beach Bag

Beach bag vary depending on what you prefer. It can be a water-proof bag or a canvass bag. It has to be a bit big but lightweight so you can put all your necessities. To be more organized, you can choose beach bags with  inside and outside pockets.

Though it’s quite heavy to bring an absorbent towel, it is important to have it. When your kids get tired swimming in the beach or in the pool, this will keep them warm and dry.

Choose a swimwear that is made of a sun protective fabric that can blocks out sun’s harmful rays. The swimsuit does not have to be just stylish but it has to be functional as well.

Sunglasses and Hat

Sunglasses are a must to protect our children’s eyes from the striking rays of the sun. Hats will also filter the amount of heat that will  pass thru our face.

Beach Slippers/Water Shoes

Bring a pair of comfortable flip-flops for your kids to protect their feet from the heat of the sand reflected by the sun. You may also opt to bring water shoes which is perfectly designed to lessen slips  and to be comfortable while walking on the sand or even swimming in the beach. This will protect your feet from minor scratches you may obtain from the stones, shells and foreign objects in the beach. Remember to pick the perfect size for you.

When you are swimming in pools, it is best to bring these as well. Some swimming pools have slippery flooring, unlike those made from , so it is really important to wear comfortable and appropriate footwear.

First Aid Bag

This is a must anywhere we go – a first aid kit to store medicines for headache, tummy ache and others; band-aid, anti-septic solutions for minor wounds and scratches.

I hope this list will be helpful to moms who are planning to travel with the family this summer season. Happy summer!

These are indeed summer must-haves for our young kids. No parent should venture out with their kids without these.

    • Reply Maica Ocfemia-Figuracion April 8, 2013 at 7:16 am

Yes, Ms. Teresa and I hope all parents will not take these things for granted for their kids’ welfare.

Kids totally need those two. They may enjoy the summer vacation because they’re out from school for a few months but still they have to be protected. Sun protection is a must because they must be protected from the summer heat. Especially now that the sun rays are harmful for the skin. And of course, water, so they don’t get dehydrated as they play along.

    • Reply Maica Ocfemia-Figuracion April 8, 2013 at 7:15 am

Yes, and it’s so important for kids to be educated with the harmful effects of too much sun exposure to their skin.

Getting hydrated and using sunscreen is really a rule when we are out and about with my little girls. Thanks for sharing these must-haves.

    • Reply Maica Ocfemia-Figuracion April 8, 2013 at 7:07 am

Yes, we should just find the non-sticky sunscreens so the kids will not feel uneasy and greasy. =)

  • Reply Adin Blankenship April 8, 2013 at 1:07 am

Gotta have some protection from the harmful UV rays. Definitely drink plenty of fluids so we don’t get dehydrated and getting sick after all. Sure is not good. Our weather here is not as bad yet since it is still the spring, but I hope this summer is not going to be like the past summers where it was just scorching hot like you can cook an egg on the driveway. Oh dear!

    • Reply Maica Ocfemia-Figuracion April 8, 2013 at 7:06 am

Ms. Aldin, that’s what we are experiencing now here in the Philippines. It’s so hot! Way hotter than the previous summers we had.

  • Reply melandria romero April 8, 2013 at 3:23 pm

because of the heat of the sun, our kids really need to drink a lot of water and of course not to mention us. Nice tip for this hot weather.
