In celebration of World Toilet Day this coming November 19, DOMEX Philippines recently launched its latest campaign – “One Million Clean Toilets Movement”, with the aim to help raise awareness for proper toilet sanitation and help save lives of millions of people.
Based on research, 7 million people in the Philippines don’t have access to clean toilets making them susceptible to diseases most especially the children. Just imagine the uncomfortable and unhygienic feeling you have each time you use insanitary public toilet. How much more these 7 million Filipinos who experience this kind of distress every single day.
To help our fellow Filipinos, DOMEX initiated this advocacy campaign and made a video entitled “Fiesta” produced by Unilever Philippines.
You may watch the video here:
The video reveals how underprivileged Filipinos welcome the “arrival” of clean toilet facilities in their communities. Their priceless smiles, the excitement they’ve shown and the spark of hope in children’s eyes clearly signify how happy they were with the construction of clean toilets.
The “Fiesta” video contributes to the efforts of Domex’s One Million Clean Toilets Movement.
Here’s how you can help:
- Watch the “Fiesta” video on Youtube – each unique view translates into a pledge for the advocacy campaign which collects pledges from households to conscientiously maintain their own hygienic bathrooms. For every pledge received, Domex will donate P5 to UNICEF’s sanitation program, towards improving access to basic sanitation in deprived areas around the world, including the Philippines.
- Share the “Fiesta” video on your social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.) and encourage everyone to watch and share it as well.
“By watching the ‘Fiesta’ video and asking our friends to watch it, we are not only raising awareness for toilet appreciation and sanitation, more importantly, we are helping less privileged communities gain access to clean toilet facilities,” said Benjie Yap, Unilever Foods and Home Care Vice President.
“This video should serve as a wake-up call for most of us. The little things we take for granted, like having a clean toilet, could mean the world to others and could definitely help save lives,” Chua said.
I hope you can join us save lives and help us spread this advocacy to your families, relatives, friends and post this publicly to your social media networks.
Let’s all unite and help our fellow Filipino countrymen to be more aware of proper toilet sanitation and live a happier and healthier life.
