NIDO® 3+ has recently launched an educational campaign called “#CheckTheLabel” which aims to teach mothers how to read food labels, as well as encourage them to always check the label when it comes to choosing a growing up milk for their child.
The launch event was hosted by Delamar Arias and graced by the newest endorser of NIDO® 3+, Sarah Lahbati. Also present were Ditas Sagarbarria, Nutrition Adviser for Nestlé Infant Nutrition, Patricia Turcuato, Lead Consumer Marketing Manager for NIDO Growing Up Milk, Arlene Tan-Bantoto, Country Business Manager for Nestlé Infant Nutrition and Dr. Celeste Gomez, a guest pediatrician and Diplomate of the Philippine Pediatric Society.
‘The #CheckTheLabel campaign intends to help mothers like me to gain a clear understanding of the importance of checking food labels so we can make healthier and smarter food choices for our little ones, especially during their crucial growing up years when they need to get the best nutrition possible to support their overall growth and development.
As Ms. Arlene Tan-Bantoto welcomed the guests, she emphasized the significance of checking the label particularly in selecting food products for our children despite what we already know from the things we’ve seen and heard from the TV, internet, newspapers, as well from family and friends who are mothers also. Doing so will help mothers feel more assured of their food selections.
Ms. Ditas Sagarbarria taught guests how to properly check and interpret food labels. She stressed that by having a clear understanding of the nutrients detailed in food labels, mothers can confidently verify nutritional claims, compare brands, and decide on which brand offers the best value for our money—without compromising our child’s health, of course.
I learned from her talk that ingredients are always listed from highest to lowest quantity. She said it’s important to keep an eye out for for health-sensitive ingredients that may affect our toddler’s health such as sugar, salt, saturated fat, and sodium, among others. Ms. Ditas reminded us that moderation is key to better prevent the risk of obesity, diabetes, and other lifestyle-related diseases.
In addition, we were also advised to review the nutrition facts of the product. We have to go over each one to make sure that it meets the recommended daily nutritional requirements of children. Through this, we will be able to know if our child is eating a healthy, balanced diet…or not.
Another good reason to always check the label is so that we can identify nutrients that are uniquely contained in a particular brand as not all food products like milk are formulated equally. This is where Ms. Patricia Turcuato, who formally launched the #CheckTheLabel campaign, discussed why NIDO® 3+ is unique over all other available growing up milks in the market today.
ONLY NIDO 3+ contains Lactobacillus PROTECTUS®, which are millions and millions of live good bacteria that help maintain balance in the gut which helps strengthen the immune system of children. This unique probiotic can be found in every glass of NIDO® 3+ along with other essential nutrients such as: Prebio® 3, indigestible fibers that serve as food for good bacteria to grow and survive; DHA, ALA, LA and Taurine to support proper brain structure; and high levels of vitamins A, D, Calcium and Zinc to support overall growth and development.
My daughter Keisha drinks NIDO, so it’s very reassuring to me as a mom knowing that my only daughter is getting the protection she needs to make the most of her childhood.
One of the event highlights is the formal introduction of Ms. Sarah Lahbati as the brand’s newest endorser and advocate of the #CheckTheLabel campaign. As a first time mom, I can relate to her struggles, as I have mentioned in my previous post (you can read it here.) According to her, checking the label has indeed helped her make the right decisions for Zion.
