Is My Child Musically-Inclined?

Music is a part of our everyday lives. We unconsciously produce sounds when we talk, walk and do our daily chores. There are some who are gifted with a good singing voice while some are extremely blessed in playing musical instruments like djembe drums. There are also people who are not really musically gifted at all, just like me.

The question that often circles around my mind is, “is my daughter musically-inclined?” I am with her 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I witness all of of her activities. At a very young age of 1 1/2 years old, she can already sing parts of a song. Now that she is 3, her voice is quite developed and the songs she sings are in tune. Yes, she loves to sing and dance at the same time. I often see her playing musical instruments as well, here at home. She also creates sounds by rubbing two objects then hums, then, you can really see in her face that she’s delighted with the sound that she produced. Her interest for music is quite surprising since my husband and I are not really musically -inclined.

Determining the strengths of your children at an early age is important so you can properly help and guide them with the development of their innate  and God-given talent. I hope my daughter is really blessed with a gift of music.

My son used to love performing in front of a huge crowd, but now he's showing interest in playing drums, so we plan to enroll him in summer class so he'd know the basics of drum playing. Read Less

Just like you, I am not musically inclined but my daughter looks like she is.

If you think your kid is musically inclined, why not enroll her in singing classes or let her join in church choir.
